Carson, New Milford,
Home after long Hitch
       Ship’s Fitter First Class Richard W. Carson is at home at 352 Salem Street, New Milford, after 4-1/2 years of active duty with the Navy.
          Carson enlisted in January of 1940 and was at Pearl Harbor at the time of the December 7, attack. He also participated in the battle of Midway.  His only comment on both engagements is: “It was pretty awful.”
          The son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Carson, he attended New Milford schools and Hackensack High School.  He will report to Boston June 8 where he will await further orders.
          A brother, Frank, is receiving boot training in the Navy at Bainbridge Md.
